Inside the Eye
There is a wall beyond which I can see
no sign of you, yet I sense everywhere
a downpour of insane calamity
while I am but a droplet in the air!
The storm is all around me, but I stay
inside the wall of it; I’m in its eye.
For now there’s calm and quiet as I pray
that when the tempest crashes through my sky,
I will endure it somehow . . . without you.
How can I stand the worst part of the rage
that’s coming? Without you, what will I do?
The walls collapse around my facade-cage.
The too much quiet turns into a din.
I fall to earth with all the pain I’m in.
