Inside a Congregation
She gives and recieves without a thought
Her eyes are as soft as her voice.
She knows the ins and outs of every song
And sings only to God.
His compassion is endless and unconditional.
A tear in every smile, but a sparkle within each frown
The world is on his shoulders
But he feels it beneath his toes
He can't see the light, but he knows it's there.
He makes promises they only hope he keeps.
His tunnel is pitch black
But he trusts in the hand he clings to.
Her eyes flit suspiciously as dread tugs at her heart.
She stares blankly willing it not to be there when she sleeps.
They say one set of footprints means God carried you through hard times.
Her life will be a single track.
