Innocence of Spring

The Dogwood faithful to the spring

                                 with opened arms of blossoms white,

                                    a resting place for birds to sing

                                   as dawn breaks into morning light;

                             in the breeze, Dutchman’s Britches swing,

                                    Columbine, in the shade, delight.

Hits home as I have dogwood (pink) with columbine and bleeding hearts (similar look in Spring to the Dutchman's breeches) in my shade garden.
