Innocence Lost

Infants fill in speaking muse
in motion slacks

Children fill in leaking emotional cracks
in home and family's nurturing support
with deaf and blind lies
of eternal ever after
nursing happiness

Democratic healthiness,
free and freeing
first amending communications
grasped quickly
before autocratic adolescence
turns down our brighter sight.

As with one little light,
so with the great transitioning many
too old
to innocently fight

Wounded future children
filling in leaking communion cracks
in synergetic EarthHome
and EarthFamily's nurturing support
with monoculturally deaf
and monotheistically blind lies
of eternal ever after
nursing AnthroAutocratic happiness.

I have a three year old, and a two month old. Both little girls. This poem makes me very sad. As much as I want them to grow into beautiful people, I think I would much prefer them to remain their sweet, innocent, perfect, little selves forever. Nevertheless, the clock ticks on.

Yes, that's a common feeling, especially from dads about their little girls. I did intend this as edgy humor, because I think it could just as well end with adolescence turning on way too many lights all at once, and they will need help with that, as do we all. I hope you all enjoy the ride together. Gerald Oliver
