Innocence

I want to revert back to sweeter times,
When laughter and carelessness were in style,
And everything was a new discovery
Those memories, however vivid are distant

They seem like nothing more lately,
Than the dust which sits and grows
On the pile of books I used to love

The world around me grows ever so cold,
And the darkness makes it hard to see
The happiness which used to be a part of me.

I want to become a tabula rasa once again,
I want to feel the warmth of my mother
for the first time once more,
I want to weep like a puppy when my father
Leaves for the night
My innocence is the one thing I’d give
Everything to have once again.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.
