I met her in the dimness of the night. Why did we sit near each other I don't know. It's not that she was such a lovely person But ugly she was not. That is what I thought. We were so young then, round sweet eighteen. Did I love her? Now in my old age I think not. But I had never dated a girl before, So infatuation it must surely have been. Proud I felt that some lass felt something for me. Prouder still as she lay her head on my shoulders. We decided to meet next day, go for a swim. And suddenly the urge so great I kissed her. But time was cruel for I was madly in love With love for I never expressed my true love. Soon we separated and that was the end of all. But soon I found another and this was for real.

You have beautifully and naturally expressed your first infatuation which burst like a bubble in no time...! Very realistic of teenage love !

What a pleasure it is to look back with wisdom and appreciate what was infatuation verses what IS love. Tender write.

Victor, your wonderfully imagined poem has drawn a parallel between true love and youthful infatuation. Nice work! :)

Beautiful Victor. We all think our first puppy love is the forever thing but when it's over and we find another we think that is the real thing and so it goes until we grow up and really do find the real thing. As the saying goes, You Kiss A Lot Of Frogs Before You Find The Prince/Princess. Good Stuff. God Bless, JB

Love giving, lust seizing … have we finally evolved or is it merely that testosterone has declined?

Well-done. Oh, how infatuation and first love haunts us years later!

The ending almost a childlike - and this was for real. Love the puppy love, the innocence and discovery. My dad was cute, after several just so dates, started dating my mom all the time. His dad asked him what are your intentions. “Well, I love her, Dad…” That is my heritage. Blessed to have parents that truly loved each other.

I think it's something that we all experience as when we're young. Tom

We have all experienced that feeling, especially when young. I like the contrast between love that lasts and one that is just an infatuation. Great write, Victor, on impulses one feels in youth.

We go through states of infatuation, admiration, adoration, love.. not just in search of who we are.. or to feel loved and loveable.. but also to feed our feelings, fill our senses and eventually embark on a long journey of self love, deep awareness and growth.. You have displayed in your own poetic print such states of being and evolution.. a great pleasure to read you, Victor! You have always something of beauty to impart to your reader.. My deepest regards and blessings.
