Indonesia Is Closer Today

Indonesia is so far away. I may not have ever met anyone from there. Yet my heart is there right now, feeling sad, feeling empathy. That so many people are hurting because of Friday’s tsunami. Everything swiftly changing in a red minute, A reminder to the rest of the world to hold every second of every day As tightly as we can, cherishing the good, appreciating it for all it is worth. Someone else’s sorrow is a heavenly reminder to us, the ones unscathed, To love our love ones as much as we can every second because life is Elusive, taken away suddenly, slipping off the edge of time in a whispery second. When we take a deep breath or look away for a second, everything changes. Indonesia seems closer than ever to me today. I am praying for you, Indonesia.

Empathy does seem to 'draw us closer' during times of tragedy... no matter distance or difference in cultures. Touching and well written piece, my friend.

Indonesia seems to have had more than its share of natural disasters in the past decade. Everyone's mother, father, brother, sister, friend, neighbor, etc., is someone precious to someone else; the world feels the loss. Well penned.
