I see throngs of people going places; everyone's in a rush to be somewhere. And their indistinguishable faces keep rushing past me as if I wasn't there. Behind sarcastic stares, I feel their hate and their collective resentment of me. For they believe that I deserve my fate, an annoying beggar is all they see. No one has a kind word or coin to spare, they don't see a hurting human being. And without even pretending to care, they scoot on by without ever seeing. I feel like crying almost every day, and yet survival keeps most tears at bay.

apathy abounds as does fleeting sympathy we misplace ~ self empowerment by grace alone eludes disgrace
