Independence

To Ukraine ~Arise in arms from ‘neath oppression’s boot, confront the face of arbitrary whim. Resist as one to quell the scarlet brute and neutralize the threat of florid prim. Let tyranny ingest the bellowed rage of cannon flash o’er ev’ry hill and dale, let revolution step upon the stage as cries for independence ever swell. Let nay a man be manacled to thrall imposed by whomsoever claims the right, such tyranny shall spark the battle call and all subjected, rally to the fight. Dissension’s ire has risen from the strife to wield the whetted blade of freedom’s knife.

What an emotive piece... I thought it was on The general overeach of current incumbent World governors at first.. Then noticed Miltons Observation on it's subject, all war is deplorable And yet man resorts to it every time 'in solving Problems' I see the anti gun lobbyists in The democratic party, pushing for more Weapons to be sent.. it all seems very oxymoronic to me..' All big protagonists in this are Un security members.. It's very sad.'

Mark, this is such a powerful poem, and I see you have aptly dedicated it to Ukraine. Your phrases are exquisite, with very fine rhyming and rhythm. Outstanding!

A very intensely appropriate cry against the tyranny that has besieged Ukraine. Understanding the possible repercussions, this slaughter has been allowed to persecute, cripple, and kill innocent people, but they have not buckled. What help has been offered has never been enough. Your last two lines would make a great battle chant. Well written Sonnet, Mark.
