Indelible Ink

Every single word we write When posted on the Internet Creates an Indelible footprint It remains in the ether F O R E V E R Removing or amending a poem, a comment, a blog A face book posting, a tweet on twitter Our words don’t get lost in that Internet fog Just be mindful... one day they may come back to haunt So …. before you press send STOP and think before you POST 08-23-17

Very true Jan! Punctuation can also get you in trouble. The example of Let's eat Grandma instead of Let's eat, Grandma seems apt. Great write!! pat

Hi Jan, so very true. I have twice put something down wrong and i thought it would cause me grief. It didn't, the persons involved knew me and so insult averted. I don't interact as much as i used to, it may be because of this, along with other problems i have. I would hate to insult anyone. No truer words written Jan. An excellent write. Hugs....Mike. XX

OH Jan...this is so true. I've wondered about that. My poems have been used in so many different places. Some of the wording I'd like to change. Some of the ways they have been used are not to my liking. Wow. So true. Hugs, sweetie. Thanks for the reminder.

It's about that and more Eileen - everything we put out on the internet, social media, fb and here on soup leaves an indelible footprint so if someone writes something and removes it - it is still in their 'footprint' :-) hugs jan xx

I wonder if the same people would be so opinionated and rude if they met the person they were commenting on face-to-face? (If that makes sense ? :)) I love your poems and sense of humour Jan, don't let any idiots get to you. Wayne Mac x

I've had trouble on here especially when I first started as my poems were described as 'simple' and one guy made my life a misery and I was tempted to leave but 3 years on I am still here and I will never leave. I don't think people realise what they put on the internet and especially on social media remains in the ether even if it is deleted - a young lass on our Island committed suicide as a result of on line bullying - the police traced about 56 pages of posts - so it can come back to haunt:-( hugs jan xx

So true Eve and of course there are the photos an 'ex' posts of a person and they are there for the world to see. Social media can be a minefield for abuse and I don't do 2faced book but once something is posted it remains somewhere on the web forever even if the person thinks they deleted it:-( hugs jan xx

I've had a couple of people comment on some of my poems and then they removed what they'd written. Perhaps they had second thoughts about their accusations, but they've been captured in frame. And one who tries to annoy even though I've asked him to move along. He can waste his time, but not mine.

Once posted they remain somewhere in the ether Lin,just because a post is removed it doesn't mean it was never there. our experiences are different and I was told i had removed then added something to a poem and I hadn't!:-( hugs Jan xx

ha ha ha Arthur:-) I am trying to find a news article I partly heard on the radio today about a charter between the Isle of man and the channel islands (I think) regarding issues on the internet including cyber bullying:-) hugs Jan xx

So true Jan...my nephew has taught me many tricks to find things that have been deleted. He is a computer wiz who does internet security for NASA.

I don't think people realise that once you press that send button even if you later remove something from the web it can still be traced and remains there forever. Your nephew sounds like my son who is also a computer whizz kid:-) hugs jan xx
