Hindi Title ‘Madan Dahan’ 18

Compassion degraded by passion,
Would make him weak,
And weakness would make him intransitive,
Making him brute and selfish.

That robs the sense of duty,
Creates only sensual desires,
Which bring total destruction,
Making him self-destructive.

Thus under his influence,
Man would acquire beast form,
And would destroy human glory,
Through exploitation of the weak.

I like that men who prey on the weak are described as beasts. Our glory, then, comes from overcoming the baser nature of the self.
