In Wonder I Wander

As from my ivory place, in a while I descend
Carrying a piece of magic and a trace of scent
Quite a time of quietude there I spent
A delight, a light, I have to suspend.

The poet in me yields to live and bond
As I find in mere days a world to be fond
Out of sight I put my quill and wand
To humbly breathe and to life respond.

Along with my poetry, in wonder I wander
Unleash my words and on life I ponder
Bringing what is bright, and seal all that is somber
Allow beauty to rise after a long slumber.

I walk unseen, even as I get near
The brush of my words, its voice you would hear
The echoes of my soul, in hush so clear
That’s my bliss, a blessing from God so dear.

Wondering if I would have a choice
My ivory tower, a vision that has no voice
My world of a living pulse and many a voice
Or just wander in wonder and both rejoice.

As poets, we dwell in an ivory place of magic and imagination. It is a quiet and blissful place. But we cannot dwell there for ever. We have to descend down occasionally to connect with our fellow beings and the community around. 'To live and bond' is what we desire most as human beings. This alignment of poetry and day to day life is the right combination. So, for a time you have to put away your quill and ink. Dear Besma, this is a beautiful poem of introspection and insight. The poem has an easy flow and sweet rhyming. Hope you will be around with beautiful poems.

Dearest Besma, my soulful sister in poetry, my enlightened friend, you are both a poetic creator and a life experiencer. Your "ivory place" is an ethereal space, artistic space, a space of satisfaction and solace. Your "wander", is the earthly domain of life's interactions and obligations where your elevated art is given the magic and scent, the pulse and breath of both realms. Your poetic voice is born of vibrant journeys, spiritual and physical, of beauty and hardship, creativity and reality. Your avid reader relishes your wonder and wander and revels in joining you in your poignant reflections and conflicts inherent of the human experience in creating art and living life. A splendid poem of exquisite expression! Such a joy to read your verse enriched with both your internal and external worlds. Warmest wishes, love and hugs to you my dear poet sister.. ~Susan

Dear Besma, What a beautiful and gentle meditation on leaving the solitude of the “ivory place” to enter the world’s wonder, echoing the classic symbolism of the ivory tower as a space of reflection, purity, and sometimes isolation. I love how you beautifully balance the urge to retreat with the longing to connect, letting poetry become both sanctuary and bridge. Even as we wander, wonder and beauty can always rise anew. Spring Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

The pleasure and satisfaction I do feel while reading such an exhaustive analysis of my humble poetry exceeds the joy and enchantment I feel while writing.. Blessed I am to have a poet of beauty and insight read my words and wonderfully comment on them and appreciate them.. I'm deeply grateful to you, dear Daniel for the honour of your visit and the joy of your reward.. THANK YOU SO MUCH! My deepest regards and blessings.

My dear sister, your poem beautifully captures the quiet struggle and joy of a poet emerging from solitude to engage with life. The “ivory place” acts as a metaphor for the introspective, often isolated space of creativity, where the poet finds magic, scent, and quietude. The transition from that space into the world “to live and bond” is rendered with humility and grace, as if stepping from a dream into the texture of reality.

The final stanza is especially poignant—it presents a tension between two realms: the internal, silent vision of the ivory tower, and the vibrant, shared world of human experience. Rather than choosing, you suggest rejoicing in both, which feels like a wise, harmonious resolution.

My dearest friend Besma, your poem is a gentle descent from a realm of quiet grace into the vibrant heartbeat of life itself. The imagery of leaving your “ivory place” to share a trace of magic and scent is just exquisite—it feels as though you've invited us into your sacred space of reflection, then gifted us a piece of your soul wrapped in poetry. Your words speak of humility, beauty, and the delicate balance between wonder and grounding. I love how you explore the inner pull between isolation and human connection, poetry and living, with such subtle wisdom. Your final stanza lingers especially with me—this idea of finding harmony between your inner world and the world outside. It's a blessing to read your work, and even more so to know the gentle, thoughtful poet behind it. A fave for me. Love and Hugs

My dearest friend Maria, you are so kind to me and so generous granting me so great a support.. always genuinely praising and highly appreciating my humble poetry.. I'm so happy you so much liked and enjoyed what I wrote from the depth of my poetic soul and the living pulse of my world.. I'm quite sure you do feel the same as you are an amazing poetess dipped in the wonder of your world of poetry then to find yourself grounded to your mundane world and caught in its maze.. You are the poet and the great lady whom I admire.. THANK YOU SO MUCH for me would not suffice to render or meet all that you are giving and adding to me.. Stay always blessed and happy.
