In Wonder I Wander

As from my ivory place, in a while I descend Carrying a piece of magic and a trace of scent Quite a time of quietude there I spent A delight, a light, I have to suspend. The poet in me yields to live and bond As I find in mere days a world to be fond Out of sight I put my quill and wand To humbly breathe and to life respond. Along with my poetry, in wonder I wander Unleash my words and on life I ponder Bringing what is bright, and seal all that is somber Allow beauty to rise after a long slumber. I walk unseen, even as I get near The brush of my words, its voice you would hear The echoes of my soul, in hush so clear That’s my bliss, a blessing from God so dear. Wondering if I would have a choice My ivory tower, a vision that has no voice My world of a living pulse and many a voice Or just wander in wonder and both rejoice.

Dear Besma, What a beautiful and gentle meditation on leaving the solitude of the “ivory place” to enter the world’s wonder, echoing the classic symbolism of the ivory tower as a space of reflection, purity, and sometimes isolation. I love how you beautifully balance the urge to retreat with the longing to connect, letting poetry become both sanctuary and bridge. Even as we wander, wonder and beauty can always rise anew. Spring Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

My dear sister, your poem beautifully captures the quiet struggle and joy of a poet emerging from solitude to engage with life. The “ivory place” acts as a metaphor for the introspective, often isolated space of creativity, where the poet finds magic, scent, and quietude. The transition from that space into the world “to live and bond” is rendered with humility and grace, as if stepping from a dream into the texture of reality.

The final stanza is especially poignant—it presents a tension between two realms: the internal, silent vision of the ivory tower, and the vibrant, shared world of human experience. Rather than choosing, you suggest rejoicing in both, which feels like a wise, harmonious resolution.

My dearest friend Besma, your poem is a gentle descent from a realm of quiet grace into the vibrant heartbeat of life itself. The imagery of leaving your “ivory place” to share a trace of magic and scent is just exquisite—it feels as though you've invited us into your sacred space of reflection, then gifted us a piece of your soul wrapped in poetry. Your words speak of humility, beauty, and the delicate balance between wonder and grounding. I love how you explore the inner pull between isolation and human connection, poetry and living, with such subtle wisdom. Your final stanza lingers especially with me—this idea of finding harmony between your inner world and the world outside. It's a blessing to read your work, and even more so to know the gentle, thoughtful poet behind it. A fave for me. Love and Hugs
