("Dragon's Eye", 2020, original encaustic) In Vain In the end We’re left with nothing really. And in that end What we meet, what we see Is nothing but the mirror of our mind. Every once is awhile we get a glimpse of this mirror, Maybe the only thing that actually is, And in that moment see All we do and gather in life Is nothing more than a veil to hide our nakedness. In the end everything we’ve learned Isn’t ever really us As much as the person we wish to be Attempting in vain To shield what we actually are. (1/11/24)
