I have very credible information supported by intelligent REAL doctors who are coming out on things everyone needs to know about the virus. It is so worthwhile that Youtube has banned it because our mainstream is being manipulated. If anyone wants the information, please Soupmail me.

__________________________________________________________________________

Outside is beautiful, for it is spring, and yet I know in many places there is suffering. More men are spending more time with their wives. For some this might be good; for others it’s affecting lives. Domestic violence is on the rise. What happens to the drunk who loses work? Already he’s a jerk! What happens to the business that is small and forced to close its doors? How many will survive at all? What happens to survivors of the one who – knowing he’ll be facing bankruptcy - then takes out his gun? What kind of funerals can people have? For those who have no system of support, what will be their salve? These thoughts run through my mind from time to time. Meanwhile, more fortunate than they, I sit working at my rhyme. My civic duty - simply stay inside! On shopping day, I don my gloves and mask - swallow my pride! I’m fortunate to work from home, and I am keeping busy, so as usual I watch time fly! I give food donations; that's not saying much, considering the many souls that work on front lines and such. I spend time with my spouse, for whom I fret. He drives a semi, but I’m glad he’s not got the virus yet. I like to hear about folks doing good - especially all those finding ways to help their own neighborhood. I’m doing all the things I used to do except for exercising in the gym. My woes are few. Lies are being told, so conspiracies could well be true! But what can anyone do in times like these? Congratulations for a very much deserved placement. What can one do? It is the question that causes the most consternation. When Power without compassion for others takes precedence. Take care.

Andrea, the tone of this is so well balanced. You cover so much ground of what many/most of us are going through, with a real compassion for those who are worse off, yet acknowledging the fears and deprivations we are experiencing. Well done, and a deserved congrats on your win ~ John

You covered almost every point here... You are right about nothing everything being as it seems... and the conspiracy theories do not help, but is there an element of truth to them... nice take on the contest.. Congratulations on your placement in the contest..

There is more than just a small element of truth to them. When our own CDC is playing around with "numbers" and not even condoning a well known treatment for Covid yet, I'd say something is rotten in Denmark: https://news.yahoo.com/dr-gedroic-using-hydroxychloroquine-treat-174821982.html

This is such a difficult topic to discuss (but it's in our faces everyday ... and to not bring it up would be like sticking our heads in the sand). Like you, my woes aren't extreme (for the time being), but who knows what the future will bring after the dust settles? Some are not so lucky... a well written piece for the contest, in any case. If the mood is right, maybe I can enter it as well (hard to stay in focus though ... such a big topic)

"Truth be told" will never be an hallmark of this pandemic! 23% of Americans believe money and/or independence have greater value than the life of a loved one, so 77% must pay the price. Look out for the tsunami! Aloha! Rico

That was a great read. I was freaked out a bit at first but now I just got about my business and keep working. I’m done living in fear. Thanks for sharing

Yes indeed--the saga continues. Some not so obvious consequences:More men are spending more time with their wives...Domestic violence is on the rise.. As you say people are also stepping up to do good. I miss the gym but walk out side every day. Stay safe Andrea. Your poem gets to the essence..no doubt a winning poem.

Wow! You've really laid everything out there starkly, Andrea. A sincere, genuine look at life in the here and now. This is superb, methinks! :) gw

Every morning I wake up and think this is real and then wonder what my work days will look like. Will the mask mostly stay on, can I handle the heat, will I be restless to get back home...

Great poem with lots to ponder. I've always been concerned with people's mental health in times like these as well as those stuck home with abusive family members. I'm thankful to still have a job and it's been busier than ever. I don't fear, though.

I just wrote one too, different thoughts, so many things going around, one knows not what to believe yet one fears the virus, so many dead, the anxiety is enough to kill you in itself... good write! hugs

As Bill Gates said (and I quote) Fear is a great way to control the people..... think about it, my friend. (I do not find it all that super scary and I like how Dr. Phil called it for how it is).

I relate to this so much. Right down to fretting over the hubby going to work. My woes are few, however having pre-existing anxiety, that got a little out of hand. I have finally stopped having social distancing nightmares every night. ;), xomo!

I am more worried about the after affects of all this than what is happening in the "now" I think some very strange things are going on, and it saddens me that so many people don't seem to be seeing the bigger picture. Sorry about your anxiety. My hubbie has it too. Mine is not bad, only at night when I can't sleep.
