~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When your steps have changed their measured stride
And I can’t seem to uncover the ways love brings its soft light
When your heart beats in silence, all worries aside
I feel your song, rhythmic and graceful as the autumn night
When your mind wonders and you can’t remember a thing
Know that I still love YOU – whatever this life might bring
When your eyes turn cloudy and the blue is a misty hue
And I can’t stop feeling like the stars are at war with the moon
When my memories are colored in shadows broke in two
While the gladness of the bygone leaves my mind too soon
When nothing in life is as clear as the fact that we’re old
I promise to keep remembering your smile, your heart of gold
When your hopes spin out of control and you know the end is near
And, despite your dreams, your autumn is turning to winter’s chill
When you just keep wandering if you even have one more year
Because time, though not gone completely, seems to be all downhill
When our lives have changed to dim reminders of where we’ve gone
I hope that, until we’ve left this world, our love will sing on and on
When time has ended and we’re finally going home to God above
I hope that those we’re leaving behind, remember we came to love
