In the Spirit of Christmas

Merry Christmas to you, Uncle Sam

Leaving the jobless with hat in hand

   Congress on a Yuletide roll

Brought an end to public dole --

They’re cooking their goose, not Christmas ham

I remember so clearly when this happened and our elected representatives played the Grinch, Diane. Witty, unique and perfect form. Competition for this contest was awesome and you did a great job. Thanks for supporting the contest with your witty verse. Hugs, Carolyn

Amen to that final line, Diane. I'm glad you listed this as a "satire" because thinking of all those people losing unemployment benefits while jobs are scarce isn't really funny. But satire, yes. Best wishes in Francine's contest. Love, Carolyn
