time hovers day to night
swoops as one ongoing wave
transforms all in its passage
reshapes it in one surreal motion

when we’ve said all we had to say
and its sum is forlorn or gone
what will remain of love
what will remain of us

while all that truly matters
is what we’ve given of ourselves
