In the Carrollton Halls
Fate's Footfalls in the Carrollton Halls
Once a principal had a drug problem.
He lived on the grounds of the school.
Sleeping with blankets on the hard third floor
had been his routine rule.
One night he set his office ablaze
in the process of drug abuse.
The superintendent escorted him out,
said his tenure was of no use.
This devastated, lonely, distraught man
threw himself in front of a car
being killed in an instant on the street
with the school not very far.
I received a call from the CEO
to be managing principal
and through this series of sad events
my foot fell in the Carrollton halls.
From that day on I had a hard job,
to make a broken school whole again.
The place was crazy and off the track.
Real teamwork had to begin.
Spring came and things got better.
Most productive were the days.
Students and teachers learning and growing
in efficacious ways.
We never know what fate awaits us
or where our feet will fall.
Still I am thankful for the unlucky chance
to manage the Carrollton Halls.
