In the Books of History

In a world such as this, there should be no homelessness, there should be no poverty; there should always be a place for you and me. There should be no wars or man-made sorrows. There should be happy days and happier tomorrow's. There should be love that never ends, with beautiful family and wonderful friends. Too bad this is a place in the imagination instead of another day of celebration. Too bad we don't feel all that can be felt. Too bad we can't depend on each other's help. Where is the love for today and tomorrow? Where is the peace that we don't have and have not borrowed? Where is the love for the one who created Earth? Where is the thankfulness for the one who gave us birth? My heart fills with sorrow knowing that what we have today will not be much better tomorrow. So I leave this poem, for those who come after me, in hopes that they leave these times in the books of history.
