In Search of Harmony While We Wait
Is there a search for harmony in every longing soul?
And what ways do we use to reach that goal,
Those moments in time, where all nature seems to be
At peace with itself, though so deeply we know
Undercurrents of struggle lurk unseen even there,
Where the lion quietly plots against buffalo or bear.
And then we search harmony of colors in an artist’s paint,
Though some splash disharmony of their own.
A politician says “I want to serve you all,”
Our inner disharmony knows it will never be done.
Some homeless man beside a fire smiles because
He’s proud of his choice though cold and hungry to walk alone,
A world-beauty celebrity chooses a thousand dollar dress, but
Cries in a dissatisfied disharmony of her own.
To accept that each one searches his own harmony,
Take joy with him when he finds even a piece of it,
And peace will return to your own turbulent search,
‘Til the Universe is finally settled
And the search for God’s pure love found complete.
