In Our Hearts and Prayers
“If only it were all so simple! If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?”
? Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, The Gulag Archipelago 1918–1956
In Our Hearts and Prayers
How do we discern the truth of world affairs?
A raging war that take lives and impedes;
Truth lies on the lips of those in our hearts and prayers.
We seek to be supportive and show that we care,
From the tyranny that has been decreed.
How do we discern the truth of world affairs?
From a far, with out-stretched arms, your grief we share;
War, a tragic means to an end, we all agree.
Truth lies on the lips of those in our hearts and prayers.
Innocent lives whose faces are stained with tears;
From the mighty arm of power, propelled by corruption and greed.
How do we discern the truth of world affairs?
What will become of the worlds future heirs?
At any cost the powerful will succeed.
Truth lies on the lips of those in our hearts and prayers.
The visuals of war are hard to bear;
Will there ever be peace for humankind to be freed?
Truth lies on the silenced lips of those in our hearts and prayers;
How do we discern the truth of world affairs?
