In Our Hearts and Prayers

“If only it were all so simple! If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?”
? Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, The Gulag Archipelago 1918–1956

                               In Our Hearts and Prayers

                   How do we discern the truth of world affairs?
                     A raging war that take lives and impedes;
          Truth lies on the lips of those in our hearts and prayers.

                We seek to be supportive and show that we care,
                     From the tyranny that has been decreed.
                  How do we discern the truth of world affairs?

         From a far, with out-stretched arms, your grief we share;
                   War, a tragic means to an end, we all agree.
         Truth lies on the lips of those in our hearts and prayers.

             Innocent lives whose faces are stained with tears;
        From the mighty arm of power, propelled by corruption and greed.
                 How do we discern the truth of world affairs?

                 What will become of the worlds future heirs?
                    At any cost the powerful will succeed.
      Truth lies on the lips of those in our hearts and prayers.

                    The visuals of war are hard to bear;
        Will there ever be peace for humankind to be freed?
    Truth lies on the silenced lips of those in our hearts and prayers;
                How do we discern the truth of world affairs?

I do not think that we can discern the truth - for there are so many truths. "How do we discern the truth of world affairs?" So this makes sense.

We must not judge. The Mighty one knows how and when events are to take place. Still loved your poem.

Beautiful, touching prayer; much heartfelt, universal truth expressed. There will never be peace until people refuse to fight, risk court-martial and being hung perhaps. Better than letting leaders make of the masses mass murderers. Love what Elon Musk just did, challenged Putin to fight till death, to end the slaughter in Ukraine. Now this is a man...keeping communications open for the Ukraine people, all at his own expense. You get another Fav! Joe

Thanks Joe~it is so true the leaders sit behind armored walls and spew their vile war for the masses to fight their battles. Elon Musk has it right~roll up your sleeves Putin and take the hit yourself. :)Paulette

The masses see themselves as blameless angels. I have yet to find them with wings))) In the USA, we elect some idiots! Then it’s their fault for war? I think it’s our fault. War and peace. We have had peace..we voted madmen in office. Add the madmen worldwide, propaganda in most papers and TV, blessing crazies in office. Blaming Those Not in office? Insanity! We can make a difference. Pray God enlightens us. Pray for refugees, soldiers, the dead, the injured. Pangie An excellent verse by the way.

Thanks Paulette.in California, voter roles have never been purged. Who knows how many dead vote here? I have seen footage of cheating. But, who would believe me!people have COSTCO CARDS got loaded with Covid Poisons but refuse a voting card? Give me a break!racism is brought up? People do not know Democrats started the KKK, not white people. POTUS wanted no integration.but the race card is always played, see META, and all liberal channels. It is very sad that valid history is skewed. Police are bad. Crooks are good. We need God’s help. The lies are insane. Pangie. Those voting machines are from hell.

The masses didn't have a vote~the whole election was corrupt....we need to wipe clean our government officials and start over. The current leadership in the US and an abominable disgrace to the highest office. He is a puppet being manipulated to reduce our nation to Marxism. Thanks for stopping by to visit. :)Paulette

Discernment is truly a God given gift - the gift of sight through God's eyes. Your prayer for discernment is spot on Paulette and wonderfully constructed. Wonderful source for contemplation and prayer. Blessings to you.
