In older writes today I take a peek I read what brings me joy and what brings pain A message left: a gift that I still seek I see a face, and tears fall fast like rain The writes and rhymes have chronicled my life Like dearest friends the words bring solace deep What grieves my heart is some remembered strife I read again. I smile, I sigh, I weep. Some of the poets now have passed away And others now are silent, no reply I wonder once again what might I say to make those days return. I have to try I cherish every sign in every rhyme Of where I was, and where I've come to be The journey that I take, is quite sublime I'll write until I taste eternity. Eileen Manassian

The community here is strong ... but it also fluctuates. I'm guilty of long absences, so your second-to-last stanza really got to me. It's hard to grasp hold of feelings when we are all changing. But the beauty of poetry is that we can look back, taking with us little snippets from the past. Taste eternity, indeed.

These sentiments are like finding a pressed flower in the pages of a book long after we forgot we placed it there. It is our memories good and sad that make us human, Beautiful poem from a beautiful mind. Hugs, SuZ

Another one that I fully relate to! I often wonder where all my poems will go when I am gone. I do not even know where they all are. Going back through poems is such a private and special journey, our therapy throughout our life, really (our doctor's notes) ... 7 ... CayCay

Reading older poems and looking at past photos tends to fill us with nostalgia....and we reminisce on our past, our acquaintances, departed friends, and many other memories which are dear to us. Alas, many things will never return! But remember...the journey continues:) Hugs // paul

I sometimes wonder what will happen with our older writes. The good thing is that when I do public readings I have enough material to choose from to suit any theme.

Elizabeth Barret Browning wrote " How do I love thee, let me count the ways, I love thee to the depth, breath, and height my soul can reach...... and will love thee better after death"..I believe that the gift of being a poet and the love will live on with us after death..Thanks for dropping by ..I enjoyed reading your work..Sara

I will continue writing Eileen. I too miss special people that were once active on soup it is distressing when they just disappear without trace but issues in life can take over and soup takes a backseat. I hope in time people will return but in reality we know some never will:-( hugs Jan xx

I know the feeling, Jan. I'm feeling nostalgic. It surprises me how people change.....Some people are constant and consistent. They bring joy. Thanks for the visit, sweetie. We must go on....You are right. Hugs to you.
