In Grief Entwined

It’s affected more Than I bargained for; My brother’s death He’s still here, of course, On Facebook; a ghost Among the living host Of ‘Friends’ And sometimes I’ll post a post Political or satirical And without thinking, think, “Linz will ‘Like’ that” .. But, No …. He doesn’t And never will. Half a world away and Covid-constrained I missed the pouring of his dust Into the sea, so much the lust of his life, Now the lust of his death. But when I close my eyes, I see The flames charcoaling me As the bones of his cheeks Morph into mine. Aye, there’s the true rub. For the dead leave death behind For the living then to find And place in special corners of the mind To visit and revisit In grief entwined Mourning for the passing yet to come.
