The Constitution guarantees due process rights to all "persons," not just citizens. This means non-citizens, including undocumented immigrants, are entitled to fair treatment under the law.” I suggest you might want to consult a constitutional scholar on this matter, but we often see things the way we want rather than what they are. Lin, you are very kind. Yes, there is so much to write about when the stakes include our government itself and its relationship to us all. There will two demonstrations in the upcoming week. One on Saturday and another on Monday. If I can make it, I'll post pictures.

Mark, thanks for being the first to comment on this limerick, and there will be more to come. I am actually in favor of removal of criminal undocumented people. However, I do think there is a right way to go about it. The right way means following a legal process that includes the judiciary. It's never easy or cheap to follow established practice and law, but doing so provides protections for everyone involved including the "strange" people around us. Let me ask you a question. Is it possible the huge increase in funding for the Department of Homeland Security and use of the military in cities is part of a larger agenda that goes beyond immigration enforcement? This is a troubling matter for some of us who remember what occurred in other countries and times. BTW, I appreciate that you are taking the time to discuss this issue and ask about what I am thinking. Smiles, of course.
