In Another Time

In Another Time

In another time we jumped, both feet into the dream,
Supported by the flow of every river, lake and stream.

In another life we lived, we shared the ups and downs,
We struggled and we learned, and savoured what we found.

In another time we dreamed, yet time was running out,
We cherished every moment, long after any doubt.

In another life we hoped, together at the time,
That love would find a way, to keep your hand in mine.

In another time it happened, and that is all I know,
But this life is so different, and that is clearly so.

In this life we are gifted, we have so much to teach,
I see the bigger picture, and the goals that we must reach.

In this time we remember, in another we were one,
We've helped to lift each other, when this life was not much fun.

In this life we are helpers, to everyone we meet,
It seems our own desires, at times take the back seat.

The next life is still open, a clean slate as of now,
I hope we meet again, Gods will, somewhere, somehow.

A lovely poem, Phil. To me, it reads like the evolution of maturity of a marriage or commitment and how it changes from 'just two' to 'many'. Very well-written, and best wishes for the contest. 7 Sandra

This is a beauty of a write Phil, wasn't sure where it was going to end up, was preparing for tragedy or something, but it was so subtle and smooth the transition of emotions, through different stages of life that it was seemless, and then the last line, wow! A7 and a fave!
