Imitation Spring

I saw a cherry tree in bloom; It must be quite confused. This imitation spring fools some But others have refused. So short-sleeved shirts have made the scene While certain coats stay zipped, Though temps have broken records And at night they haven't dipped. With March on the horizon Guess it's not an awful thing To give in and shuck the jackets And pretend it's really spring.

That's our only option, Ilene. I noticed the other day that worms have nosed their way up from their deep bedrooms! And it's very probable the first crocus leaves are up and enjoying sunshine. But we New Englanders are not fooled – snow shovels, sand, and overcoats are still at a moment's reach. Wonderful write. / M

I'm still waiting on winter to arrive here in Florida. We haven't had much of one. I know I'm in the minority but I like winter. I enjoyed your poem, Ilene! Blessings, Kim

It is most definitely spring in the south. The dogwoods are in full bloom. What heck, Live a little, Mrs Ilene:)

Cherry blossoms always remind me of mother. Her birthday was May 2nd. So February is very early for sure.

I say go ahead and put those jackets in the closet and take a walk outside while you can. :) Hopefully you won't have to take them back out for a while
