I wrote this as a sophomore at Oberlin College in 1977. My 'lost' love's name appears in reverse in the poem's title!

I recall the first day Short afro, tight skirt lost look on your face I remember your shy confession the one about ... well, 'I've a crush' I still see myself mouth agape, eyes rolling too good to be true I held your hand saw you smile the flash in your eyes Above all, your eyes a cross between brown & green half closing, half opening And their glitter like a coquette like some gem I don't forget the poems I wrote the dreams I had I have loved you for so long And I leave you Like I found you Short afro, tight skirt lost look on your face

I love this perfectly penned memory of a past love that still lingers... both refreshing and poignant.

Thanks so much. At that age, it was the closest thing to perfect love that I ever imagined.
