Imagine

Imagine a long Winter of wars -
Multitudes of people on all fours,
Hiding under tables by the scores.
Ice cold instability.

Head-tilting species, in disbelief.
Poor bowls are empty, no relief.
Not even handed a bone, as aperitif.
Huddled in fur.

Dirty snow, and the secrets it holds -
The bombs, bullets, knives it molds;
Brutality, snarling, & corpses upholds.
Imagine the horror.

Thank you so much, Lasaad! I have been watching a couple series on war - The Pacific and Band of Brothers. They are so enlightening! If we could only find peace and let all the horror, tortures, terrors relent and be so far in the past we couldn’t reach them. Hugs ~ Kim

Hello Kim. First of all: Congratulations on the winning contest. Great job. It's difficoult to put on the shoes of those ones that are living in desperation. This is a poem to make us open our eyes to see and appreciate what we have. Thank you Kim, for making us reflect. Well done. Hugs

Yes, it is beyond our imagination to think of the horrors of war. Winter is nearing and the wars continue. Without power and water, imagine innocent people hiding in trenches and underground tunnels when bombs explode and guns shriek all around. You chose a very apt topic and have dealt it masterfully, Kim.

Thank you, Valsa! How wonderful it would be not to have the need to write about war. God bless you!

I thought about adding on a verse about peace but felt it more impactful given what is going on today. Blessings, my friend!

You paint a picture with your words, of the state of the world right now. Disgusting to watch leaders encouraging the slaughtering of innocent women and children. All for profit or power they have no need for. May God's will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Amen. Bill

Hard hitting and very powerful, Kim! My heart has been in a state of ache and shock for over a week! I am lighting one more candle each night at 6 pm for peace and hoping others will do the same. We cannot enter the fray, but God has given us the ultimate ministry for change - to be God's prayer warriors. Thank you for this inspired poem! Blessings to you and gratitude for your words.

A hard-hitting poem my friend. Wars are hell for those who fight in them. But oh, so profitable for those that start them.
