Concerned with our image
We present and they perceive
Our sense of self becomes entangled
In a virtual web that we weave
As our stories grow larger - grander
A deeper hole gets dug
Before we’re aware
We’re suffocating; the light disappears from above
Now the applause begins to grow
We’re alone; in a spotlight on center stage
You've earned the title “influencer”
Making a little over minimum wage
It's a sick circular cycle
Of people filling each others egoic needs
Each person out posting the other
It's a dysfunctional identity “look at me”
Like the sun peeking above the horizon
Exposing what's been hidden by the dark
Time too reveals the truth
It's an inescapable dagger to the heart
As the sun begins to set
All things fade into the past
The false image we’ve created
Can’t last
