I'm not what you think I am
You think I'm happy
I'm not
You think I don't care
I do
I'm not a child
I'm not gothic
I'm me
I'm not something you can change
You can't change me
So don't try
Accept me for what I am
Don't fight me
Don't force me to change
I'm not yours to play with
I'm not a failed experiment
I'm an individual
I'm not part of a crowd
I make my decisions
Not you
Don't treat me like I'm lower than you
I am your equal in every way
Accept me and I will accept you
I won't follow you because it's cool
If I follow you it's because you're right
If you're wrong I will tell you
Don't lie to me
I don't try to be cool
If I'm cool it's because I didn't pretend
Don't pretend to be my friend
Don't talk about me behind my back
Tell me to my face
Don't try to protect me from making mistakes
I'll make my own mistakes
I'll learn from them
Let me
I'm young
I will make mistakes and I will learn
Don't make me a rescue mission
I don't need rescued
I don't need saved
I'll tell you when I do
Don't try to force me to live your life
I don't want your life
I want to be me
Let me be me
Don't lecture me on my mistakes
My mistakes will make me who I am
I'm not yours to change
I'm not a recreation of you
I'm not like you
I'm different in my own way
