Notes About The Poem

Robert's Black Cat Moan (Glenn Hughes) Contest ~ 7/6/26

I'm a Sleepless Stargazer

I've become a sleepless stargazer
Stepping out of the shadows at night
Alone, I gaze at the stars each night

Keeping watch over celestial skies
Call me a dreamer and you'd be right
Wanting things to be made right

I stay awake, watching the cosmos
Desperately hoping there will be a sign
A sign of deliverance from the Divine

Praying it's not too late to find
that place deep within my soul
that offers me control over my fate
That place deep inside of me
that shines like a galaxy of starlight

I want to feel fully awake
and not quake as if heaven will combust.
I'd like life to give me a reason to purr
instead of groaning and moaning
like a dejected black cat on a fence...
hissing at the world in my own defense

Don't tell me it's too late
to find that kind of satisfaction in life
A stargazer, a dreamer I was born
to shine like the stars
I'm not yet ready to become stardust
waiting until happiness comes along

I'll learn to be patient, although I'm alone
instead of howling like a black cat who moans
I'll welcome sunlight after a long night
wanting everything in my life to be made right

When night is over and stars have faded
I'll gaze at sunshine's radiance as it burns
asking when it might be my turn
to have golden days in my heart and soul...
no more moaning like a black cat, all alone
I don't want to be all alone

‘ A stargazer, a dreamer I was born to shine like the stars’… to gaze, to dream; wonderful things to behold. Congrats on second. Beautiful poem.

Hello Lin Lang, I am too tired to gaze at the stars. although one day I would give it a try. I make wishes upon a star. Hoping it will come true. Perhaps one day i will not be alone. One day someone and will gaze at the stars together. Hugs. /Darlene/

Awwn sigh the last line, made my heart hurt, for any soul that feels alone. This is deeply moving’ I didnt yet listen to this song linnersz, but ofcourse we must all write for glenn hughes :D hah Well I believe after reading you, the lyrics must be as equally magical as your words woven here with such soulful imagery and poignant emotions ! This MUST ~ place as a top winner! I am sure it will! Pleasure reading you today. Sending you light always ~ Best wishes

Errr I listened for a while but got more from reading the lyrics. You know me… I had to embellish the plight of the lonely stargazer. Thanks a lot for your thoughts, Ink.
