If Trees Had Ears

Do trees feel?
No says governor as he puts down his seal
But trees have cells just like we do
And I say they have souls to

Oak stands like a tower
It is embodiment of power
But long ago it was small
Only few inches tall

Oak remembers Sava and Vars
As lying underneath it they looked up at stars
As they joined their love made them one
And dynasty they began

It remembers when Cleopatra put a snake to her breast
And you all know the rest
It remembers Normandy and Monte Cassino
And asks same questions as we do of wind when it will blow
Questions like meaning of life
And why along with good there is strife
Oak remembers when Neil Armstrong walked on the moon
And when whole world was shook by earthquake or a typhoon

But oak has life but no consciousness
Which brings question what is consciousness?
Neural flame is powerful mind maybe most powerful of all
But what about neural flame of the soul

The connection of all things in universe
Or perhaps I should say Omni-verse
And compare to this mind what is infinity
What is continuity?

And if one can count final continuity
Isn’t that the only way to be?
Conscious free
In control of one’s destiny

Maybe that is why oak seems sad
Because it is essentially dead
Or maybe we only think it is dead
What do you think about that?
