Notes About The Poem

Ten Monokus and two ugly ones—by I Am Anaya

Fun Fact: Frank Zappa coined the term “poop shoot”

If the Shoe Fits

love is not Archie Bunker ~let his hatred stay in Hitler's bunker

when circumstances appear cruel in life you need not be cruel with them

a dodged serve, the ball is now long gone~a pond rife with many lost balls

a lie will soar throughout the land before truth wakes and gets out of bed

controlling ones diverticuli ~should control shouting from poop shoot

attention seekers turn your gaze outward to life’s welcoming bounty

no physical traits shared with your harem~save face so not to scare ’em

a friend can't be betrayed if they were never a friend~non-existance

liars can't believe in their own existence~how can they believe mine?

given every clue~if you don’t know me by now it's yours to undue

pure love’s nature cannot take pleasure in other’s sorrows pain and sin

poets with grand gushing font~sage with a pen or idiot savant?

Each Monoku is a gem, worth lingering over in a thoughtful re-read. The concluding Monoku certainly has a sting. Congratulations! Brian

I pleasured in the making of my monokus --the madness such jolie . You are welcome for the stingy one!

Haha the last one was so funny. Several others really struck me as clever, especially a dodged serve and the one on true friends.

Hi Andrea, haha, so glad you enjoyed. I now know why folks use Monokus to release what's been on the mind! ;)

A full page of Monokus, Anaya, I'm impressed. You covered a lot of territory with this poem, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Have a great July, my friend! Bill

When poets' potentials aren't quite hitting their goals to be a better self (showing absolutely no remorse but stating over again that they do in their poems 'unlike their comments') then these Monokus will show up now and then! Lol ~ Thank you, Bill!

Anaya, I must commend you for your eloquently crafted poem, brimming with intricate metaphors and captivating language, offering thought-provoking perspectives that resonate profoundly. It beautifully expresses the notion that genuine love, in its purest form, cannot derive any satisfaction from witnessing the anguish, suffering, and wrongdoings of others. This raises the question of whether poets, who possess the ability to ardently articulate their emotions, are true sages wielding their pens with wisdom, or merely individuals with a peculiar talent.

Dear poet, as much as I enjoy your wonderful comments and visits, not all of my poems are for every poet, content warning I should label--I apologize for that. If I'm inspired by poets who are not exuding potentials and goals of striving for reinvention of themselves then I shall post one of these now and then. Thank you! :) my freind
