If the Earth Could Sing

In spring time Grasses whisper, Hushed voices murmur As I walk by. And when the wind blows I can hear the earth sing Songs of the ages gone. They sing songs Of wind and rain, And a time when the World was new. When the wind blew across The open plain, and Buffalo roamed wild and free. Songs which tell Of the birth of men, Before they did Conquer the earth. Before they did take the lives Of millions, and watered The earth with blood and tears. The earth long ago Grew weary of the Doings of men. A day may come when the World returns to the way it once was, And our cities return to forest, Remembered only in song.

This felt like a gentle breeze whispering poetry through grass.
