If Only For the Moment
Sometimes we allow our emotions
To take precedence to instinct,
Allowing feelings
To overcome common sense,
If only for the moment...
We let ourselves get swept away
By the waves of Deception...
Not Feeling, not being,
Not even living in reality,
If only for the moment...
Sometimes it's better...
Not to feel, to be untouchable,
Unreachable, unreliable,
With no responsibilities,
If only for the moment...
Riding on the tides of pure happiness...
Knowing subconsciously, it won't last
But rectifying still,
In the glorious feeling of immortality,
If only for the moment...
But as we come out of our shell of resilience,
And step away form our immaculate imagination,
We know we will never exist more peacefully,
Than in our world apart from rationalization,
If only for the moment...
Coming our of our state of mind is troubling,
We feel deflated, defeated and desperate,
Willing to cling to any piece of our former self,
Even the bad habits are comforting for their familiar aspects,
If only for the moment...
We no longer know what to think,
What to believe, hear or see,
It's as if everyone is staring at you,
Waiting for you to screw your life up,
If only for the moment...
Is that why we walk with our heads down?
Is that why we won't make eye contact,
Because we aren't comfortable
In the real of Reality?
If only for the moment...
But we must carry on still, must socialize, must communicate,
Live among our peers in the midst of the real world,
We must face the reality of the terrible human race around us because...
It's only for the Moment.
