If Only

If only...I could start over again. Took that job in Memphis and stayed away from so-called-friends. If only...I could right the wrongs. Find the perfect songs and make you giggle all night long. If only...My wager would have been on the winning team. But life is mean and I lost everything. If only...I would have turned the other cheek. You can't walk down a street without a coward preying on the weak. If only...I would have turned left instead of right. An automobile accident plus the loss of my eyesight. If only...I could travel back in time. Do things differently and have peace of mind. If only...she were alive today. My mother would shake her finger and say... "If only, If only, If only!"

Jimmy, nice to hear your story, don't we all wish we can start all over again. unfortunately life treats us that way. If only, if only, but we can start again and don't feel guilty. Hey nothing beats a trial but a person who stays down and refuses to get up and go forward. very good poem just what i needed to hear.

Congratulations, Jimmy A. on having your poem featured this week. Hindsight is always so much better when we make wrong decisions. But their is hope when we learn from our mistakes, repent and move forward to a better life. Always remember your mother and live a life of caring for others if you want to find true happiness and a better life. God be with you. Thanks for sharing and keep writing. Sincerely, Dane

Do you stay awake at night with the What If's running through your head? Nicely written thoughts that we probably all have had. Keep writing. Sara
