If It Was Our Last

If it was our last kiss, I will forever remember the way your lips lingered on mine, provocative and passionate, comparable to the longing felt between our bodies If it was our last embrace, I will forever feel the strength of your arms around me, soothing me to the very core of my soul, knowing that no man could ever hold me tighter If it was our last song, I will forever recall the melody and lyrics, thinking of you with every note played and every word sung like they are  the last words I will ever hear with these ears If it was our last conversation, I will memorize each sentence line by line, reciting it over and over, savouring the nostalgia of how you enriched my life with such joy and happiness If it was our last goodbye, I would shed a stream of never-ending tears, reflecting on the fact that sometimes love hurts and sometimes love heals, mourning the loss of both what we had, and what was yet to be For your love has been etched like a permanent tattoo on my heart, imprinting a part of me that no one else can ever claim, residing safely and securely, and never, ever to be forgotten
