Notes About The Poem

For Emile Pinet's Monchielle Stanza poetry contest

A Monchielle Stanza is a Norwegian form by Jim T Henriksen and is comprised of four (verses) of 6 syllable lines, with the rhyme pattern of xxAxA - xxBxB - xxCxC - xxDxD, the first line in stanza one is repeated in each stanza as line one.

If it was not for words

If it was not for words there'd be no poetry. Can a veiled muse survive, unable to release poems that make us thrive? If it was not for words. Can we cope being mute when hearts have to suppress reasons behind sorrows, teardrops cannot express. If it was not for words. There would be no lyrics, only background soundtracks. No songs to soothe our souls or help tired minds relax. If it was not for words. How will eyes view nature when art fails to describe moon, blooms, angst or romance? Nothings left to inscribe.

Ironic, is it not, that you can have music without words/lyrics, but not poetry? An excellent piece, S O.

Wonderful thoughts here, SO. Yes, where would we be without this means of exchange or expression. Back in the dark ages. Reads like a winner to me. SuZ

I really like this poem. Words are humanity's great tool to understand each other and connect, and to remember, and to feel. One more to add - without words I'd be limited to cooking experiments :)

I agree with Tom, he said what I was thinking, SO. I'll add...words can make or break, confusing messages can cause communication breakdown. Nothing in your work can ever send a message like that. SO you are always clear inside and out with your thoughts, journeys, and skills. Lovely voice in the music video.

Great entry for the contest, Silent One. A FAV for my list. Excellent form and filled with wisdom of words. Each verse was clear and necessary in completing the theme of "words". Good luck in the contest, although poetry such as this shouldn't need luck. It's only words! Thanks for sharing the YouTube songs, they touch me. A poet friend in Texas, Bill

What a profound and flawless monchielle, you do these forms just effortlessly, making them look easy, as its an easy read that truly flows in such eloquence! The depth of this poem would resonate with any reader, without words, how would we express? I really feel every word woven here especially today, as i write to release so many suppressed emotions, and i cant help but agree that we write because sometimes we feel unheard.every stanza in this stood out for me but i really loved the part-
