If I Knew I Had To Die......

I’d look up all my long lost friends, And tell them all good-bye; I’d ride my horse to my hearts content, Eat the chocolate I’ve been denied; I’d write my final epitaph, To put upon my grave; I’d go and walk along the beach, Maybe catch a wave; I’d say farewell to the one I love, And tell him to move on; I don’t want for him to suffer, After I’m long gone; I’d regret that I had been so shy, If I knew I had to die.

I think perhaps many of us would eat all the chocolate we'd like to eat, if we knew it wouldn't matter;) Congratulations on your win!

Well, that is why God is great, I guess some people had the opportunity to do all the great things they wished to do before they die, and I guess if we so wish we could have that GRACE too. This is awesome, a very emotional piece! I love it. It is thought provoking. keep your pen dancing to the drumbeat of your passions. great you dear! Love, Adeleke

What a sad, but beautiful write. And yeah, that ending hit me hard. But there's nothing wrong with regrets. Amazing, touching write. Enjoyed. :)

Sad but beautiful. I'm glad your write wasn't full of regrets, just the one about being shy, but hey it's not too late to change that one. Best of luck in the contest and thanks for your comments on Rudolph, glad it made you laugh ~ Sharon :)

Tirzah, this is awesome, but with a sad thought of all the things one might want to do before they die. I would do the walk on the beach till it happened as well. Enjoyed your poem, and thanks for the time you too to read my slam.. She called it, by the way. And thanks for the awesome thought if I knew I had to die,..Sidney LeeAnn
