If I Could

IF I COULD

If I could move a mountain
By shrinking it to a stone
Then I could make you love me
And not be here alone.

If I could walk on water
Or make the sky my home
Then I would make you love me
And not be here alone.

If I could paint a masterpiece
Or write the perfect poem
Then you couldn’t help but love me.
I don’t want to be alone.

If I could reveal the darkest secrets
And banish all the unknowns
I’d find the reason you don’t love me
And never again be alone.

The things we do to make someone love .... Impossibles. Great poem.

Great write Phil so sad but oh so good. Captures the forever question why but alas we are left with no answer! Sometimes love hurts, but the absence hurts more. A7

Thanks so much. There is no answer because love is the disease and the cure. Namaste.

A wonderful poem Phil. I feel your longing. Interesting that the forms are the same in our poems as well.

So deep and so full of emotion. Sometimes I wish that "I could reveal the darkest secrets and banish all the unknowns"... but, sadly, I cannot....

TY Tat, sometimes revealing those dark secrets is a Pandora's box but loneliness is also a force to be reckoned with.

Damn Phil, men aren't supposed to cry but...This poem says it all and I wish I had written this. If only seems to be the catch phrase for the lonely, which it seems I am a charter member. Thanks for sharing this today, this is a killer poem. Top of the charts good.

Thanks Chris but if you are a charter member, I am the founder of the club, lol. Seriously, though, I think male poets like us can show our inner emotions without feeling weak; never be afraid to say how you feel. Namaste.
