Zyrool Gifford Poet Free verse

If I Could

If I could, I would travel around the
world to gain experience and learn,
If I could, I would watch an ocean’s swirl at the break of dawn.

If I could, I would wave a magic
wand to purify the air,
So that we could breathe without worry or fear.

If I could, I would make chaos and
wars stay buried in the past,
If I could, I would make it compulsory for friendship and tolerance to prevail and last.

But it seems all I can do is pray, pray, 
and pray that there are no more rivers of blood and salty tears,
These thoughts I dared myself to
share,
As their weight is painfully heavy for 
my gentle soul to bear.

If I could,
I certainly would.

We can only wish if all enmity had stopped and the world had become a place of love and harmony. However it is noble at least to long for peace. Lovely poem. A lot of work needs to be done to make the world a better place, but you have a fantastic heart and soul.
