I'D Be Your Friend

I’d be your friend if that’s allowed or if it’s not. I won’t get cowed by friendship as defined by you (restrictions placed more point of view.) Let God address my reasons why, but trust, I pray, I court no lie. I’d be your friend (though friendship’s gift might get refused.) I won’t be miffed. But I’m your friend (if that’s my choice), I love (I trust) my inner voice. Sure, you’ve your way, and I’ve got mine. Do friends give birth to Frankenstein? If you feel scared, enjoy that space if that serves you (you’ve got a trace, a hint of doubt that I’m your friend.) Oh, Chosen One! Feel free! Pretend I’ve gone away (I’ll still be there to thwart false fears that I don’t care.) A friend’s a pest who won’t let go but will not crow, “I told you so!” when blinders drop away from eyes, and dreamers wake to warmth’s surprise (their friends close by.) No one’s alone (they just refuse to lift their phone.) Long Tooth March 2nd in 2022
