I Wore The Streets

In the alleys of despair where shadows fell
I walked with pockets empty a silent yell
Each step a plea, each gaze a search
For a crumb of mercy on life's wide perch

Beneath the bridges, against the chill
I begged for warmth, for time to still
The world moved on, brisk and bold
While I reached out for a hand to hold

From dawn to dusk
From dusk to dawn
I wore the streets
My hope nearly gone
Yet in the heart where dreams reside
A spark remained a guide inside

Then came the day, oh sweet surprise
When someone glanced with kinder eyes
They offered me a job, a chance again
A path that led me away from the shame

With work came pride with pride a home
No longer on the streets to roam
A table set, a bed to rest
Life's simple joys felt like the best

From dawn to dusk
From dusk to dawn
I wore the streets
My hope nearly gone
Yet in the heart where dreams reside
A spark remained a guide inside

From rags to comfort
From less to more
I found my stride, I found an open door
The blessings came, not all at once
But in small graces, ounce by ounce

Now I stand, where once I fell
A tale of triumph, a story to tell
From begging to blessing, the journey's been long
But here I am, grateful and strong

From dawn to dusk
From dusk to dawn
I wore the streets
My hope nearly gone
Yet in the heart where dreams reside
A spark remained a guide inside

From dawn to dusk
From dusk to dawn
I wore the streets
My hope nearly gone
Yet in the heart where dreams reside
A spark remained a guide inside
