I Wish My New Year's Resolution Has Legs
I Wish My New Year's Resolution Has Legs
Every year I take the same old stride
For the first few days, I'm a racehorse
I saddle all my to-do-list with pride
Then by the second week, I lose the force
If only I could rein my page each day
Focus on one day at a time, one step
Then strive forth and change my way
Perhaps my to-do-list will not lose pep
My big "R" should be a means to an end
And surely I want my tree to bear fruit
Yet my aim is to be resolute and not bend
This year I hope my target finds root
The albatross around my waist needs to go
It needs to find a home elsewhere, express
I need angel wings to get back into the flow
For I would love to get back into my old dress
I need to stick to a calorie chart like glue
This racehorse needs to be a contender
And that predatory bird needs to shoo
This New Year's looking to be the splendor
