I Will Remember You
I will remember you as the tender soul
Who carried me through my hardest battles
With myself, against my shattered ideals,
And lifted me higher to view this cruel world
Through another, brighter lens.
I will remember you as the tortured one
Who marched through life's darkest tunnels
Within yourself, amidst your suffering,
And upon reaching the light-filled verge,
You remained unchanged by pain.
I will remember you as the resilient one
Who withstood every looming challenge
That greeted us during our darkest hours,
And fought with every fiber of your being
To preserve our hidden love affair.
I will remember you as you remember me,
Along with these precious fragments of memory
Of you, and all that makes you perfectly you,
And I will forever remember you as the only soul
Who loved me completely, unconditionally.
