I Will
I awoke my spirit first
then woke myself
love had put my being to rest
for I was dead
was accused of too much trust
“she was my first”
to love you, and truly more
did cause this death
faith would be my brightest star
yea, from now on
it will lead my darkest path
to opened doors
I will have the wildest smile
even in pain
ear to ear, still when I cry
to breathe again
I will be the finest born
beneath the skies
I will sing a thousand songs
though none be mine
you will hear my heart rejoice
where’er you are
like the cheer at close of church
during Christmas
I will be earth’s highest noon
and brightest sun
I will be her fullest moon
until the dawn
