I Want You To Know
I want you to know this,
I will always remember.
Love is a miracle, infinite and divine
but the opportunity for love
to take hold is fleeting.
Like a firefly’s light -
it burns bright, bold and beautiful,
but ephemeral, it dims,
without warning.
I am grateful that I was led to you,
drawn to your shine as I stumbled
through my hollow cavern -
you, in your brilliance,
crystal stars on polished pools
of smooth sea,
you, in your spring,
carrying your heart like a bouquet
and gifting it to me.
All the fire, breath, and beauty
beneath your ruggedness,
swims in the light of sun, moon and stars,
and I bathe in its splendor.
When I search my tomorrows,
I find you near me and within
for I am the love you return to me.
I am the flower that climbs to seek
the gold flecks of light in your eyes.
God saved me when he gave me
the gift of you.
My roots and your roots entwine,
and in our autumn, grow
deeper and stronger
as our red branches reach
for heavenly skies of honey.
We are brought together as one love,
divine intervention many memories ago.
I want you to know this,
I will always remember.
