I Want a Doggy
Oh how I want a doggy,
a bundle of love and fur. Someone to hold and love,
someone to cuddle with when I sleep.
I asked my dad,
he said maybe. I asked my mom,
she said no way. I even asked Santa,
he forgot little old me.
Each night I dreamed,
I dreamed all about my new furry friend.
A friend to play with,
a friend to talk to.
One day my new friend appeared,
he was walking across my back yard. I called Spot,
he came a limping to me. His feet were hurt from a long walk,
a walk that lead him right to me.
As we got to the back door,
I screamed for my dad. Dad picked up Spot with loving care,
into the kitchen to wash and bandage his paws. I watched and rubbed Spot's head,
showing him all of my love.
A few days later,
Spot was all healed and ready to play. My doggy,
a bundle of love and fur was here to stay. Someone I can hold and love,
someone I can cuddle with when I sleep. Written Date: 2/9/2020Let the Pens Flow-narrative Poetry Contest and Sponsored by: Jenish Somadas
