I Thought I Wasn’t Allowed to Ask
They told me faith meant never asking why,
Just trust what you’re told and don’t question the sky.
But what if the questions I carry inside
Aren’t pulling me from Him, but drawing me near His side?
I’ve wrestled with Scripture more times than I can say,
With things I couldn’t understand or explain anyway.
I’ve read certain words and thought, “Lord, is this true?”
And wondered what You were asking me to do.
But He never left when I questioned His ways,
He met me with patience on my hardest days.
And somewhere between “I don’t understand” and “I believe,”
I found that questioning gave my faith room to breathe.
So be curious. Be confused. Be unsettled. Bring your why.
Bring the questions that keep you up at night.
You don't have to pretend that you understand—
Just bring what you have and place it in His hand.
Because faith isn't knowing the answer to everything,
It's trusting the One who holds everything.
And maybe the answer I'm searching to find
Is not an explanation, but knowing His heart and His mind.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, ask God....”
— James 1:5
So ask the hard question. Don't bury your doubt.
Don't silence the thoughts trying to find their way out.
Maybe the place that feels hardest to explain
Is where God is revealing Himself again.
Come with your questions. Come as you are.
You don't have to have faith figured out from the start.
You may not get answers to everything you bring—
But you might find Him in the questioning.
