I Thought I Was Smart

The following poem was inspired by the quote “Why fit in when you were born to stand out?” by Dr. Seuss

I thought I was smart, I thought I was free
Then I woke up realizing I wasn't me
I was plastered with that of the world
As my head began to spin and swirl
I was just a phony, another little fake
Sin had entered in because of that snake
Finally I repented of every deadly sin
This is one soul Satan will never win
Now I'll never fit in with others
Even those who claims to be sisters and brothers
For the Lord has shown me what I must do
To go out and serve with a heart that's true
